BCW Manufacturing
BCW is a UK specialist in advanced CNC manufacturing and machining solutions, supply chain management and surface treatments.
“Working with Red Hawk has really opened our eyes to the many energy management solutions available to us.
Not only have they managed to secure us a sizeable rebate and further exemptions moving forwards, they are now guiding us on potential energy efficiency projects and we feel extremely confident in their care.”
Challenge
As an expanding business feeling the effects of rising energy costs, BCW decided to seek advice on potential new avenues to save money on their bills.
They invited the Red Hawk Group in to discuss their current position in the hope that they would be able to offer alternative cost saving solutions.
Solution
Billy Ingham, Managing Director of Red Hawk Group, immediately identified a potential cost saving through a Min-Met exemption.
He said: “Certain mineralogical and metallurgical processes are eligible for up to 100% exemption from the Climate Change Levy (CCL).
“Basically, the exemption is designed to ensure UK Energy Intensive Industries (EIIs) have the same tax treatment as EIIs in the EU, reducing any distortion of competition.
“A lot of businesses are unaware of this exemption or have heard of it and never thought it would apply to them.
“BCW was one such businesses and tasked us to find out more about their eligibility.
“It proved a fruitful exercise as we identified they were in fact eligible for the exemption and we were able to seek a rebate going back 4 years.
“The rebate was a significant amount – over £30,000 – and we have also now secured an exemption for the business going forwards.”
Result
BCW was delighted with the rebate recovered and happy that the exemption is now in place for future years.
It gave them the confidence they needed to pursue further cost savings and energy efficiency projects with Red Hawk Group.
Further exciting projects will be announced in coming months.
