S. Dawes Weaving

S. Dawes Weaving specialises in weaving quality fabrics, all woven from their Lancashire mill by a skilled and dedicated team. The Colne-based company weaves for customers all over the world.

What S. Dawes said…

“We’re saving money while playing our part in a low carbon future, which meets our own business needs as well as satisfying the needs of our supply chain. We couldn’t be happier with the result from Red Hawk.”

Challenge

S. Dawes is recognised around the world for its quality, high end fabrics and in recent years has invested in the latest machinery to ensure future success.

Fulfilling such global orders requires machines to be working at full capacity, and this takes a lot of electricity resource.

Stephen Shepherd, Managing Director of S. Dawes, said: “With the recent energy hikes we saw our bills rise dramatically and it was putting a huge strain on our bottom-line figures.

“We are not a business to rest on our laurels, so decided to seek the support of an energy specialist to see what they would advise we do.

As an eco-responsible business, it was also important that any new energy supplier suggested had its own environmental credentials.

They were recommended to speak with Red Hawk Group and made the call.

Solution

Billy Ingham, Managing Director at Red Hawk Group, visited the business to find out more about their operations so that he could suggest a viable option for them.

He said: “The business was too small to benefit from a flexible purchasing option, but we knew that we could get them better rates for their electricity from one of our suppliers.

“Better still, this supplier was a renewable energy company, which trades in sustainable biomass, so it met S. Dawes goal towards a Net Zero future.”

Result

The move from their incumbent supplier to a 100% renewables supplier is forecast to save S. Dawes a huge £131,000 per year.
